No rise in radio cab fares

CHANDIGARH: With UT administration not in a mood to increase the much-delayed fares of air-conditioned radio cabs in the city, commuters can heave a sigh of relief when the price of everything seems to be going through the roof.
The two left-out radio cab operators, who met UT home secretary Ram Niwas again on Monday requesting hike in fares as the diesel prices have gone up once more, were given no assurance.Owner of Tricity Tours and Travels Col V S Dhillon disclosed that their meeting was not very fruitful as Niwas told them that their request has not found favour with the adviser. ''The home secretary asked us to meet the adviser. As he is in Delhi, we are planning to meet him on Tuesday,'' he said. However, commuters are not complaining under these circumstances as they feel that the proposed radio cab fares for the subsequent kilometre would be very high.
Meanwhile, UT home-cum-transport secretary Ram Niwas said, ''The request of the radio cab operators right now is under consideration. We would shortly take a decision on that.''
